Padding is inner space.
Margin is outer space.

Take a look at the image above, from outside to inside: margin, border, padding and the content. You may notice that the padding was affected by the background color, while maggin is not. That’s the difference between inner and outer. So padding is used for design, making some private room for the element, for example, and maggin is always used as white space to saperate elements.

New update:

I’ve created two WordPress themes, the Gray Lines WordPress Theme and the BlacknWhite WordPress Theme. I updated them today for WordPress 2.7(also 2.8), supporting threaded (nested) comments, sticky-post and comment pages. And  added a control panel which you can set your own RSS feed and your logo image.

Facebook Lite” is a new service being beta tested by Facebook, some Facebook users received the invite message to test it out, unfortunately, the link doesn’t work. That’s because Facebook Lite is now testing in India, not USA. According to TechCrunch, Facebook Lite “was designed to be used in parts of the world where broadband speeds vary and can be expensive.” Testing in India is just the beginning, Facebook Lite will hit places like Russia and China as well.
