Crimson Text is a font family for book production in the tradition of beautiful oldstyle typefaces.

There are a lot of great free fonts around, but one kind is missing: those Garamond-inspired types with all the little niceties like oldstyle figures, small caps, fleurons, math characters and the like. In fact, a lot of time is spend developing free knock-offs of ugly “standards” like Times and Helvetica.

Crimson Text is inspired by the fantastic work of people like Jan Tschichold, Robert Slimbach and Jonathan Hoefler. We hope that the free type community will one day be able to enjoy Crimson Text as a beautiful workhorse.

Crimson Text is published under the terms of SIL’s Open Font License. That means:

Use it for whatever you want, really. Theses, letters, books, ads, brands …

Uploadie: 1GB Free Hosting with Direct Link and No Time Limit

Uploadie is a free file hosting website. The best part of Uploadie is that after registration, you got 1GB free space and your files will never be deleted by the website. Which means you can host your files forever. This is not supported by most of other hosting service websites.

Direct link is another great thing from Uploadie. And there is little ads on Uploadie, I have been using it for just several days, but I didn’t see any ads at all. The page is very clean.

Most other file hosts bombard the user with adverts and popups and demand money for basic services. The reason Uploadie was developed was to get away from all that user hate, creating something that’s intuitive, simple and fairly priced.

1. Uploadie offers a lot of settings for uploading files, click the green button at the left bottom of the input box, you will see this:

Some useful settings like Unzip–unzip the file you uploaded, Time to Remove–if you are registered, you can set to Don’t Remove, and your file will be kept till you delete it.

2. Registration is simple, just enter some basic information, activate your account from the email you received, and you are ready to go.

3. After uploading, you will be given links for your file, including direct links for download, BBCode to post on Forum, HTML for Blogs and so on.

It’s good to see website like Uploadie which is dedicated on free and user friendly service. I think the user experience on Uploadie is the best I remember from file hosting websites, no ads, no pop-ups, clean design, useful settings…
